I just went through the dyno inspection. Passed with flying colors.
Of course mine is stock with a sewer pipe intake, and a home-brew
catback, which I think cleaned it up because the numbers were so
low compared to the limits. They never even looked under the hood!
I thought they would give me trouble over the exhaust, cause it was
echoing throughout the garage, just a couple of smiles when the guy
put it in gear (2nd or 3rd) and spun it up around 2500RPM for about
a minute. I think they gave me a printout, I'll have to look for it.
I think your chances are alot better than a snowball's in hell.
With a big cam, it will be running cleaner at cruising RPM compared to
idle. Keep us posted, sounds like what I would like to do in a couple
of years.

<< Hey NJ DMLers!(or anyone in the know about this):
I am aware that beginning in 2000 all smog testing for motor vehicles in NJ
will be done with a "sniffer" in conjunction with a chassis dyno. Peviously
it was done w/o the dyno as the vehicle idles.
Does anyone know what paces they put your vehicle through to do this test?
Have the criteria (NOX and CO allowed levels) changed? I am planning an
engine swap 5.2 to 5.9 Magnum along with M1 intake, performance cam, and
maybe some head work. All emmisions equipment will be retained. Do I stand
a snowball's chance in H*** of passing this test?
My vehicle is a '95 OBD I with auto trans if this adds pertinent info for an
accurate answer. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
