Good luck Jon. I used to use Permatex all the time. Worked good as long as
it was the right kind. It's been a long time though. This was back when I
was a kid (20's). Dirt was new then!

Can says it's for this sort of application.. although I seem to need 3-5
coats... comes in a spray can... 1 way to find out I rekon, and at this
point I'll bet a $4 can against a $25 gasket set and 3hrs of work...
