I'm not surprised then, with that temperature. At rest in that kind of
heat the fan needs help. I suspect your coolant level is fine. The
extra elecrtic fan should help a lot (looking at one myself, but money's
tight right now). I don't know how much the stat will help - it'll open
at a lower temperature, but that won't neccessarily stop the coolant
from getting up to that temperature if you sit motionless with the
enbgine running long enough. It'll just give the radiator a head start.

Or, I could be completely wrong.
