Well Steve how much you want to spend depends on how fast you want to go.
For just bolt-on there are several you can do.

1. Exhaust. There are a number of cat-back systems , don't go above 2.0" on
duals and 2.5" on a single. My setup is a Flowmaster 40/2 chamber with a
Dynomax tailpipe from there catback system(yes you can get the pipes
separately, just call Walker Exhaust and ask for the replacement part number
for the pipe specific to your application), and had a shop hook it up.

2. Throttle Body. There are a couple available (F&B, Quick D, Magnum Perf).
YOu can also make you own. Got a used TB from an online salvage yard for
$50, $75 on a Dremel kit, and instuctions from the DML site and 3 days later
I had a Performance TB.

3. Air Filtration. Several available, or you can make your own. I got a deal
on a homemade one. Basically it's a 99 air hat,3" rubber coupler,2 clamps, a
3" 90degree Mandrel bent Mack exhaust pipe, and a K&N cone.

4. Ignition. Take your pick. ALot of opinions. My setup is a MSD-6A, and the
Accel super coil with Mallory 8mm Pro Sidewinders, and a Borg-Warner brass
cap& rotor.

That's about what I have so far. After all was said and done, yes there is a
pronunced difference. A friend of mine has a Exploder 4x4 v8. Before the
mods I can get a fender on him by the end of a 1/4. After the mods I had a
1-2 truck length lead. Also as a added bonus my MPG went up by 2-3
miles(provided I can keep my left foot under control). Just my 2 cents....
