Part number P5007249 is for 97-00 29 spline 8 1/4 rear ends. This
number will not work for your '96 Dakota. Chrysler changed from 27
spline to 29 spline on 97's.
My 2000 Mopar catalog has the same part numbers vs. years and it
totally omits the 96's. Call your parts department and ask for a part number
for your '96. I'm guessing that the one for sale on eBay will fit yours.
Also, something to keep in mind is that if the bid goes beyond $200,
you can purchase a brand new posi unit (along with gears and installation
kits if you want) at http://www.ring-pinion.com/index.html I bought a
posi unit from these guys for $223.
