I did the exact same thing. I took a V8 tb and put it on my V6 ( both are
1998's, but shouldn't matter in your case) The throttle cable on the V6 IS
NOT the same as the V8's. I had to "modify" the linkage on the side of the
TB to make it work. So far, it's worked great. It made a positive difference
at first with acceleration, etc., but was limited by my stock intake. It
really woke up when I installed a Quick D Intake. I also removed the air
horns and replaced the screws holding the throttle plates with stainless
steel button head screws. Also, my gas mileage suffered a little until I put
the Quick D on. Than it returned to normal. I definately cannot complain
about doing it, nor do I regret it. As far as measurable gains, I have no
one around me who has an "store bought" modified TB, or a chassis dyno to
give you official #'s, but the 'ol buttdyno could tell a difference. Since
this mod, I've upgraded the coil and wires to Accel performance products,
which seem to complement the TB well. Soon I'm going to get a free flow
exhaust. That should really get her breathing!!!!!! Good Luck ;-)
