Re: How do I get at the distributor cap?

I'd take off the air hat from the TB, because the dist is at the back of the
engine.

with that off. get a couple lengthed phillips screw drivers, and there are 2
screws on the left and right off. that will allow you to take your dist cap
off. I'd mark your wires so you don't put em back in the wrong order.

from there. get your wires on, (I recommend getting those custom length
spark plug wires. They're gonna fit better than any "pre-fabbed" wires, and
you can choose different colors too!

that's it. not reinstall it in the fashion you removed it. (hehe, don't all
the haynes manual always state that at the end?) hehe

have fun and plan about an hour if you want to take your time. 30 minutes if
you're efficeint, but I'd say longer if you're gonna do thsoe custom fit
wires. It's nice to have a bench vise around to help crimp the connections.

<< Ok, so I'm poking around in my engine compartment trying to figure out
how long it'll take me to do this wire/cap/plug swap (upgrade). How on
earth does one remove the distributor cap on a Gen III with a 318?
Disclaimer: I've never done it on any vehicle, so I'm not intimately
familiar with the process to begin with. My Haynes manual isn't very
helpful - basically it says "just do it." I can't even figure out how
I'm going to get in there to unscrew anything.

Bonus points: My father's Durango has the 360, with even less clearance
 (I think). >>
