Yeah Richard I did. So did Gene, so ask him about his details on
this. Heres what I did....

I emailed their technical support and told them I had a 14" open
element that had shrunk on me. "Custom" filters don't have the
million mile warrantee. The FIPK kit is considered a custom job.
Instead it has a 1 year warrantee. I was honest when I emailed them,
I said I knew I was out of warantee (over 1 year old) but I wanted to
know what I could do to keep a new filter from shrinking. To my
surprise they said that the shrinking was due to the rubber not curing
right or something. They said to call customer service and request a
return auth. number. That's what I did and they sent me a new filter
right away.

Now, what Gene told me about the custom filter b.s. is this. If you
have problems with your 14" filter just call them up and say you have
a old camaro or something and you bought a 14" replacement k&n filter
for it and it's shrinking. A drop-in replacement 14" filter is not
considered a custom one and is covered by the million mile warranty.
They didn't give me any problems but if they give you any you might
try this approach.
