Fuel filter WAS if you get 17mpg 338 miles is as far as you will go

Speaking of filters, my brother was telling me last night that the
recommended service interval on fuel filters is 12,000 miles. I can't
find anything in my manual that indicates this for my truck. Is this
something specific to his GMC, or should I think about doing it on my
Daktoa at 20K?
