My Hayne's manual also states to 'relieve' the fuel system of pressure
before doing anything to the fuel system, including changing the fuel
filter. All I really do it take the gas cap off. I have never had a problem
with fuel system pressure when changing the fuel filter, or even when I
recently changed a fuel hose. Both times, just about 2 ounces of gas comes
out(not exploding out either, just spills out slowly) of the line(s). I have
changed the fuel filter in my Dak 7-8 times, without 'bleeding' or
'relieving' the fuel pressuire.....and I havent had ANY problems, like I
said above. Not sure on the newer Daks, but on mine I have a little pressure
bleed valve on on the back on the engine on the driver's side. It have a cap
and resembles a valve stem from a tire; works the same way too.
