1) Drive into a tree at 48 mph to deploy(and thereby disable)airbag
module. 2)After
regaining consciousness, tune radio to 107.9 MHZ for twenty seconds.
3)Disconnect negative battery cable and isolate it.DO NOT disconnect
positive cable,as that will re-initiate the "PING" default program, and
cause the PCM to require "modified reflash #12".
4)Raise and secure vehicle on jackstands. 5)Please note that the
steering wheel hub nut and engine spark plugs were both torqued at the
same time at the factory. Therefore apply 964 ft lbs. of torque to loosen
the nut.It is recommended to keep a large magnetic dish nearby to retain
all the broken parts. 6)Using a puller, remove steering wheel from
shaft. 7)Please note that
it is not necessary to purchase a new airbag module for the vehicle.A
small amount of C4 and a wadded up garbage bag will suffice, and will
actually be more comfortable during deployment.
8)Reassembly is the reverse order of above procedure.
9)Allow 51 ignition cycles for computer to compensate for and begin to
like the new steering wheel position.Take only left turns for the first
300 miles, then for the next 300 miles, take only right turns.

This is a excerpt from the Chilton`s manual.Hope this helps. Steve P.
