Sorry I couldn't respond sooner, been outta town. Now...I've got a Gen II
with custom-fabbed steel rock rails on the sides. They are 2x2 box steel
bars, powdercoated black and welded straight to my frame. It helped that I
have a 2" body lift so the bars are perpendicular to the frame. It is
ludicrously stout, as it was designed to be. I can hi-lift the truck from the
bars on the side, it doubles as a step, and when I do rockcrawling in the
mountains it shields the truck body from serious damage as I can "slide" the
weight of the vehicle along the rails over boulders.
A friend here in Raleigh fabbed them up for me, he mentioned at one point he
might be able to make more but they would probably be in the $400-500 range
plus shipping, plus you would have to find somebody to weld them to your
frame. The design only works with the body lift also, currently only has
plans for GenII rails.
