Ok I'm missing something here. A couple times now people have mentioned that
rear ABS on gravel is some kind of a problem. I've driven alot of pickups on
gravel that had no ABS with the commensurate and predictable ass-swing during
hard braking. I've also had to crank on the brakes in my 2000 Dak in gravel
just a couple times. The rear did tend to lock in gravel, but I just drove
through it... it was nothing un-expected. (it probably shouldn't have locked
though...) So what is it that everyone is talking about? What are the big
problems with rear ABS on gravel??

When they got on wet concrete or dirt/gravel roads, they found all trucks to
stop
better with the abs disconnected. For the majority of drivers, the Feds
decided that most would be on the asphalt, therefore the stand rear antilock.
