Discontinued MOPAR Performance Computers

Got this e-mail at my site thought I would pass it on

Hello,

I just got off the phone with MOPAR Performance. I called to ask about
the availability of their high performance engine controllers (computer
modules) and learned that all 4X4 truck performance computers have been
discontinued. Possible reasons given ranged from lackluster sales (which
I doubt) to their use/misuse on towing vehicles (which I find more
plausible). It seems that the performance computer advances the ignition
timing too much when towing thereby causing the engine to run badly or
even suffer damage in some cases. I looked on the MOPAR Performance
website and found that they don't recommend the use of the HPCM on any
truck used for towing (in the FAQs section).

Just thought you might want to know about this, as I'm sure other Dakota
and Ram fans will.
