Now Tom's surely sounds like a tensioner problem.

Mine lasted 22k on the factory belt and I'm going in today to get the free
replacement, replaced, after only 8k! If I could get 30-40k out of one
these
f'n things I'd happily replace it at that mark! Fortunately I'm still under
warrantee so it doesn't cost me anything but time and aggravation.

What is the average life span of these belts? My records indicate that the
serpentine belt was last replaced at 58,600 miles and I now have 127,200 on
my truck; so the belt has a little under 70,000 miles on it. I know a broken
belt would ruin the day like a blown radiator hose could. Time to replace
it???????
