I just did my cone filter after about 6K miles and it was pretty rank. I just
use the stuff that comes in the K&N cleaning kit and it works pretty good.

I have a cone filter and it gets wet a little from the rain and when I wash the
dak. I have about 7000 miles on it. How offten and what do you folks do it diffe
rently from the way K&N says to clean them?
