I don't disagree that it will happen in some cases...but it's much more
common on Turbos. But this also sounds like a "Not so stock" engine either.
I was referring to stock and mildly modified applications.

I've seen what an older style Vortec does when it allows the shrapnel to
flow through the oil return lines. Not a pretty site.

Bernd, I saw a Paxton go thru a friends 600 ci Ferd (1100 hp) at the strip
last year to the tune of $11,000. It literally ate the impeller. some of
it
made it thru to the headers. You should have seen the carburetor, no
butterflys or shafts at all. Hell, I figure that's about $10/HP.
