12k or 36k warranty?

I keep seeing mention of a 12k/12mo warranty on Dakotas, and know of one
owner who was told this by a dealer. However, everything I have says there
is a 3-year/36k bumper-to-bumper warranty on my '00 Dakota. What's the deal?
