So there I am today..... Cleaning up the engine bay for the big
Houston show next weekend. I SimpleGreened everything under the hood.
I had my K&N covered with a small trash bag because these things
shrink like a $2.00 sweater when they get wet and then dry with
engine heat. I hosed everything off really well including wires,
PCM, everything. When I finished I thought I should start it up and
let it heat up a bit to dry out any moisture that might have gotten
where it shouldn't. So I crank it up and it sputtered and then I
heard a "POP" so I cut it off. "Oh great, what was that" I think to
myself. I look under the hood and notice the trash bag is sucked up
to the K&N. Upon further inspection I notice the top lid of my K&N
doesn't look exactly like it used to.....
This is what it looks like now. Take notice of where the wing nut
is, that's how much it deformed.

This is how it used to look before the Trottmannization effect.

So I'll have to figure out something before the show. I thought about
trying to "pop" it out by hand but I think it will look bent up even if I do pop
it back. I think I'm going to replace it with.... something else.
Brett F. probably knows what I'm talking about, I let everyone else
find out at the Houston show on Saturday.
