I installed a Viper 550 system (w/remote start) in my Dak. Dester
(on the DML) can get 'em for $150 so if you do the install yourself,
you can save yourself $150-200. The one catch is that unless you are
a certified DEI installer, the "we will pay you X dollars if your car
gets stolen" warranty does not apply. But, on the plus side (besides
the cost savings) is that I am the only person on the planet who knows
where all the components and switches are, and how the thing is
wired together. :-) I also added a couple of other things like a
remote start safety (my Dak is a 5 speed), an internal "pain generator",
etc. The install instructions do leave something to be desired, but I
was able to figure 'em out eventually. ;-)
