I think mine let go all at once. I never had a problem with it using
excessive amounts of oil until that day that I smelled it burning. Then
after that day, until about two weeks later when I could get it in the shop,
it used at least a quart of oil and left puddles on the ground. I really
didn't think mine was something as simple as the rear main seal, I thought I
really had broken it.
