Tom,
First off, is it the stock battery? If so/If not, how many miles is on the
battery? Either way, it sounds like a collapsed cell. I would highly
recommend the battery I have, if you dont want to spend $125ish on an
Optima. My battery of choice is a Champion 4x4 4 Post Battery(2 top and 2
side) which delivers 1000CA and 900CCA. I will most definately buy one
again, and the great thing is that is only ran me $45. Do you mean the
cables themselves are corroded, like internally? If so, you will need to
replace them. If you just mean the battery terminals are corroded, clean
them up with some baking soda and water; it really works wonders to clean
the battery posts and terminals. Also, when you put the new battery in, coat
the posts with a layer of 'Battery Anti-Corrosion' gel, available at any
auto part store. I typically just put some on my finger and run it around
the post(s). I then fasten down the cable terminals and coat the top of the
posts and terminals once again with the gel. So far in 130,000 miles I have
never seen any type of the white nasty corrosion stuff build up.
