The 45RFE's come on the 4.7 automatics only for now. They have a separate
controller (computer) called a TCM that bolts on the passenger front under
the hood by the right headlight. The TCM and PCM talk to each other to
determine shift points etc. The 45RFE's also use different downshift gears
than upshift gears. You can read more about it in the FSM.
