Your dealer is correct. She is either messin' with you or doesn't know
the truth herself. The VIN above is for a '99 4x4 with a 318 (8th position
is a "Y"). Someone has just made a few cosmetic mods. (Though it is
possible someone has installed a 360.) All of the 360s I have heard sound
pretty much the same as the 318 though, so even that is questionable.
You can check out the vin at http://www.dakota-truck.net/vin It'll tell
you the engine, which is all that's really needed in this case to punch
a hole in her story.
And hey, if you could order a 4x4 R/T in the US, don'cha think the DML
would have been all over it by now? :-)
