There always seems to be questions regarding tow ratings here on the DML.
Besides the confusion about ratings there is also confusion regarding the
various acronyms related to tow ratings and vehicle weights, e.g., GVWR,
GAWR, etc. In the December, 2000, issue of Truck Trend, there is an
excellent article on tow ratings. It explains all the mathematical formulas
that are used to calculate these ratings and why you should heed the tow
rating for your vehicle.
This is an informational message for those interested in towing. Please
don't kill the messenger!
