  Yep, but on something that heavy, I would think it would be a real dog
off the line. Maybe that doesn't matter (doesn't to some people), but
if you were looking for off the line performance along with a more
gas mileage friendly final ratio, I might be inclined to look into something
like the Gear Vendors overdrive unit. Its definitely not cheap, but
might be worth it, depending on what the owner wants in a vehicle.

  A big part of your friend's gas mileage equation are the sleek lines
and lower stance of the Firebird, especially in comparison to a Durango.
Plus, his engine doesn't have to work as hard to do the same work due to
the power difference and the weight difference.
