Thermostat Issues

Here's something annoying:

Since I had some repairs to make to the Dakota, I replaced the Robert Shaw 180
Degree "SuperStat" with a regular Stant 180 Degree T'Stat. I measured the
actual coolant temp with a digital gauge (same one used as before) and the
Stant runs 5 degrees hotter (188)...AND...it fluctuates too much for my taste.

Sometimes it opens at 183, 185, 182, 187...what the f---!! Time to put my
Robert Shaw back in...it was consistent at 183 degrees. (I can honestly say you
get what you pay for on this item.)
