Let's do a little theorizing on the 4.7L auto TCM. What exactly
does the TCM do? My guess is it simply takes in lots of info from the
sensors then decides when the truck should shift then tells the PCM it's
time to shift. From here the PCM takes over
it retards the timing operates the clutch and shifts. Is this right? If so
it seems it would be fairly easy for someone who knows how to program these
thing to rig a device to ignore all the TCM input data and let the driver
decide when to send
the "shift now" command (sound familiar Steven). Please don't flame me on
these ideas, I know I don't know what I'm talking about. But I do know
enough about programming to say this wouldn't be too hard to do if you had
cooperation from DC, if that could ever happen.
