Yes, the fan clutch is the source of the roar in the morning.If you don't
hear it anytime else, then yours is probably bad just the same as mine
is.Have them change it under warranty if you can.I called about having mine
changed and they said they would have to crank up the truck and let it sit
there and overheat before they could diagnose it and I didn't want that done
to my truck so I am just going to replace it myself.Not worth the fuss
sometimes.Hope this helps,

Not to be ignorant or anything but is the clutch fan the source of the
roar I get in the morning when taking off cold? Once the Dakota gets warm
it doesn't have that roar. I thought the tranny was refusing to shift.
