That is coppied from the MML 8 3/4" Guide found in the archives at...
ftp://rohan.sdsu.edu/pub/mml/archive/Drivetrain/Vaanth_8.75_Axle_Guide.txt
If that link doesn't work go to www.moparmailinglist.com and click toe links
to go to the archives, it is listed as 8.75 axle guide I think you will find
it very helpful. I'd love to measure my housing but it's 500 miles away (I'm
at college) but I when I measured it when I bought it it was within 1/8"
backing plate to backing plate and spot on for spring perch centers. If 2wd
Dakota springs are on the bottom of the axle it should be a bolt in swap with
the exception of shock mounts. Expect to pay $350-400 for a non sure grip
complete axle. Most bare housings go for $150-175.
I just want to add that some of the gasket part numbers are out of date, such
as the fel pro axle end gasket, it says it's foam, it's not it's a steel
shim, the foam are replaced by a paper type gasket which is still available
from Napa.
