Parts, Pricing, Future Plans......

Pricewise, how accurate do these number sound?
-$400; new rear leaf spring packs, 2450 pound capacity
-$250; 2000pound V8 torsion bars
-$2000; 3.9L V6 longblock and installation
-$1000-$1400, part pending; complete tranny overhaul

I still need to shop around on the engine swap and tranny rebuild, as I only
called 1 place.
I am going to do the tranny rebuild before I do the engine thing. Reason
being is this: My dads work car, 88 Taurus just had a $750 tranny job on it
with 120,000 miles on it. That car really has some pickup now and
accelerates a shit load better, smoother, and faster than my Dak does. So I
guess I am just hoping the tranny is in need of something. My trucks engine
only has 131,000 on it and I have taken excellent care of it, with very
routine oil/filter changes and good overall maintainence.

How much am I looking at to swap in 4.10s in both diffs along with labor? I
was hoping for this to be around $1000....and was actually hoping to swap in
a LSD or locker in the rear for this price also. Maybe? Maybe not?

I still dont know(actually I dont want to at all) if I want to spend $1300
on the TrailMaster 4" Lift and another $700 on installation to run 32"s,
when I can just put on a 2"-3" body lift for $100, crank the tbars up a tad,
and run 32"s. I am probably looking at about $1000-$1500 for 32" tires and
rims(15x8), right? My Dak hasnt been running all that great lately and the
gas mileage still isnt anywhere near where it used to be(dropped a good
4-5mpg these last few months). If I can get the above done for around $5,000
I am going to do it. I love my Dak and dont want a new truck payment!!
If this does workout, I am going to start saving after Xmas, and hunting
season(haha!) and hopefully pick up a second job to work at on the weekends
for a few months.

I am going to a shop this week which does some kind of spray on
bedliner(Perma-Tech) so they can quote me on a price to spray to entire
lower 8"-10" of my truck's body. A local LineX place quoted me at $225 for
the job. I want to have this done within the month. I also want to have a
new custom rear bumper made. As many 4wheelers know, the rear bumper
basically sucks. I contacted a local shop which makes race car frames out of
round steel tubing, they said they would custom bend and fab me one up for
around $300. They also stated it would be able to have a Hi-Lift jack used
on it.....so they must know what they are doing to bring this up before I
even asked about that! I would also have this
"bumper" sprayed with some kind of bed liner.

So hopefully my Dak which I bought for $13,742 in 1994 with 13,000 miles on
it wont have to become frustrating and I can buy it a new life. Current
mileage is at 131,700 miles miles. Has to be cheaper than a $500 a month new
truck payment!! Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks,
Kyle
