Ok, here is the low down. We started with a Magnum 360 block, opened the
bores to 4.030 after much sonic testing to make sure the cylinder walls
would
stand it. Next I used a 4.00"stroker crank to give me a total of 408 cubic
inches of power. I was going to use the rods with the stroker crank and
shorter pistons, but that would have given me too much compression. So my
machinist knew someone and he had a set of shorty rods made for me and we
used regular height pistons that were shaved down to give me 8.9:1 with the
thickest fel-pro gaskets made for the block. I used Edelbrock aluminum
heads
that were ported and worked over a little more. We used back-ground valves
with swirl heads, triple springs, Crower roller rockers (1.6:1), and custom
made full length equal length headers with 3.5" collecters. I removed the
factory gas tank and put a custom blue anodized aluminum gas tank under the
bed where my spare tire used to be. To feed the thirsty beast I am using
two
external fuel pumps (one for the 8 injectors on the intake and one for the
extra injectors that are opened when the boost kicks in). The intake is the
beer barrel for right now, as money started getting kinda thin. I like the
longer runners on the stock beer keg, so I had then ported out and extrude
honed to polish them. The stoke tb was taken off and fully polished and
bored out to 53mm with custom blades and a thinned shaft with counter-sunk
screws to hold in the blades. I am using a Paxton with a polished aluminum
air-hat and the usual s-bolt to hold it on to the tb. Now for the computer.
It was a stock dodge 360 magnum computer, but I had it re-flashed with a
totally custom program. It was reprogramed to read off two o2 sensors (one
in each pipe) rather than one behind the other. The trans I have was
already
rebuilt and it supposed to handle up to 650 hp. We'll see about that. The
torque converter I have is rated for 3200, but it is stalling at about 3400.
So far so good. I just can't wait till the rings have set in good so I can
romp down on it at free will. Oh yeah, I was from Madison, MS but recently
moved back to Starkville, MS to finish out college along with my wife.
