Thanks for investigating further,Bill.I am definitely more concerned now.I
think it is probably just a faulty gear box.I am glad I found it now,as I
was getting ready to lower it.My "good dealer" wouldn't bat an eye at it,but
if I take it anywhere else,they would have probably given me some grief.I
don't think the clutch disc is warped or the T/O bearing has failed.Just
after I first start it,I can row through the gears effertlessly.I only run
through 2nd - 5th once before I am on the highway on my way.Geez! 1st at 40?

I also wondered if you got a bad throw out bearing or maybe a warped
clutch disc that is dragging. I'll bet you just got a bad gear box. I was
telling George that I tried something tonight just to see if it would go. I
down shifted into 1st at 40 mph without any effort. Didn't let the clutch
out
though, I figured that would be real abuse. I had no problem down shifting
into 3rd at 85 from 5th either. So, What can I say man.
I think I read something about some bad shift forks that were put in
some
of the 5 speeds. Something about them being machined wrong or something. I
wonder if yours happened to get one of those. Bill
