Hi Kevin,
Good to see you back ;-) You have several choices of MSD ignitions. You
could install the MSD 6A (p/n 6200)(the one I use), the MSD 6T (p/n
6400)(the off-road version) or the digital version (not sure of p/n). The
digital version costs the most, but some members on the list are seeing
great results.
If you go with a MSD ignition, I would recommend you purchasing the
universal adapter (p/n 8873) as well as this will minimize cutting of
factory wires,
Now it's time to upgrade your coil if you haven't already. I use Accel's
direct bolt-on (p/n 140021) with wiring harness (p/n 140021AH). There have
been some reports of failure with these Accel units, but I've had good luck
so far ... and the risk of failure comes with any aftermarket ignition. MSD
makes a Blaster 3 coil (p/n 8223) which is supposedly designed to work with
the 6A & 6T, but you need to find a mounting location for it.
Lastly, you do not need to upgrade your computer. Simply unplug it
(disconnect the battery) when installing the new ignition and reconnect when
done. Your computer will "learn" the new ignition.

using the universal harness.
