Yes, it can be hard. From what I have heard, you need to get the gear
lash (the "slack" between the ring & pinion) set properly, or you'll end
up with nasty problems.
I wouldn't recommend doing a swap like this without considerable
experience doing other work on the truck and someone with the right
tools & a swap or 2 under his/her belt to help.
