Then can you explain why this "new gasket" leaks, but with the nubs
ground off, a $1 gasket and a few pennies of silicone seals things up
tight?

If you're supposed to put the gasket in dry, why does the Haynes manual
advise to apply silicone to both sides of it before installation?

Offering advice is fine, I'm just saying that the work I did on my truck
has worked for many, many people, while the factory setup leaked
considerably.
