David,
    I think some of the additives OR lack of additives are the main culprit
for different gas brands causing pinging. I don't get ping on 87 octane but I
run 89 anyway. I actually get a little better gas mileage on 87. Down here on
the Gulf Coast I don't think they add much to fuel in the winter due to it
not getting that cold. PLUS, we have got 3 refineries within 60 miles of us.
1 Shell, 1 Chevron & 1 Mobil.. Bill
