> I have a 2001 with the 16 rims. The tires that came with it are
265/70R16's, so by my math
>(somebody double check the conversion) that would mean 30.5 inch itres
Generally speaking, a metric sized 265/70R16 tire will be right at 30.5"
tall, which is what most standard 31x10.50 tires are rated at.
Here is the conversion table I use, taken from April 99' Four Wheeler:
Size Diameter Metric Size
29x9.50R15 28.5 235/75R15
30x9.50R15 29.5 245/75R15
31x10.50R15 30.5 265/75R16
32x11.50R15 31.5 295/75R15
33x12.50R15 32.5 315/75R15
33x12.50R16 32.8 285/75R16
Of course, every tire manufacturer's specs will vary, and these are just
'normal' sizes. There are specialtly 4WD off tires which are not listed
above. As you know, a 15" tire must use a 15" rim and a 16" tire must use a
16" rim, simple stuff. For example, BGF AT KO in the LT265/70R16 size, is
30.7" in overall diameter. The same BFG AT KO in the 31x10.50 size is also
30.7" in overall diameter. Alot of tire companies dont even make the
LT265/70R16, they just make the LT265/75R15, which is the same tire, just a
tad wider I believe. A 31x10.50 sized Dunlop Radial Rover RV tire(which I
really liked), is actually a true 31" in overall diameter; while the same
tire in the LT265/75R16 size, is listed at 31.7". Odd eh? Good Luck!
