That is not unusual for that engine. We see lots of that in our shop. The 3.0
V6 used in those vans is built by Mitsubishi and they have problems with valve
stem seals. These little rubber seals fit around the valve stems under the valve
springs and prevent oil in the valve cover area from running down the valve stem
and into the combustion chamber. It is most noticeable when starting warm or any
extended period of idle. Since the van is under extended warranty i would insist
on having those replaced. It will only get worse and foul the plugs. Other than
that those engines last pretty well with good maintenance. Replacement of those
only requires removal of the valve covers and using special tools they can be
replaced without tearing the engine down. this procedure is done on many
veichles for the same problem.
