Tom,
To clarify what Ron said, you can touch the bulbs - but NOT with your bare
hands/fingers. Use a pair of lightweight cotton gloves or a rag. If you get
any oil from your skin on the bulbs, that portion of the bulb will heat up
at a faster rate than the rest of the bulb & a "bubble" will form in that
area where the oil is present. This'll cause premature failure.
