Ok several things you can do...

By default visualization is on(the Spec Analyzer),turn it off(just by left
clicking on it once or twice). There is a setting that'll let you buffer the
whole song into memory instead of constantly seeking it from the hard drive.
That should help you out a bit, but you will need more memory than 16mb. For
memory the best bet is check out the Kingston memory website since some
AST's used some pretty wacky memory configurations.. And before anyone gives
me crap about those settings I was able to play MP3's on an IBM 701CS
THinkpad that only has a 486DX75 and 16mb of RAM. Couldn't do much while
they were playing but hey it's a 486 with no L2 caching...
