Jack the front end of your truck up off of the ground, and support it with
jack stands.
You can tell if tie rods are bad by grabbing the tire on both sides(both
sides being one hand on the front bumper-most area and one had on the rear
bumper-most area of the tire) and attempt to physically move the tire side
to side. For testing to see if the ball joints are bad, just grab the tire
on the top and on the bottom and try to physically move the tire in and out.
