RE: Tonno cover modifications?

Dunno, but we should suggest to Extang an improvement where they put a
couple hinges in the side rails and a couple quick-clamps on the back so the
back portion could quickly be pivoted up. I have the same problem with
various things, like coolers and such, it's a pita to have to unsnap the
back to get them in...

I originally thought I'd be getting a cap, but so far I like the looks of
the tonneau much better, and we haven't really needed the extra space the
cap would provide. It's just way to handy to be able to roll up the tonneau
and toss a dirtbike back there..

Subject: DML: Tonno cover modifications?

Hey guys, I've got a blackmax snap-on tonno cover on my 2000 CC Dak. I'm a
drummer and need to transport my set in the bed. Unfortunately, my bass drum
is
about 2 inches too high to slip under the back rail. Dammit! So, what I have
been able to do is unsnap the back corners, remove the rail (and the rear
rib)
and slip the drum underneith. THen the rail goes back on and the corners get
snapped down. The cover doesn't really have to stretch much cuz it's about
the
height of the ribs anyway. I hope I didn't lose anyone yet.....
So, this is a big pain in the butt. Has anyone ever modified their cover to
lift
up and clamp down on the fly like the solid covers do? I was either thinking
of
that or how about shimming the cover by 2" all around the bed? How stupid
would
that look? Any ideas would be appreciated. I know I should have a cap
instead,
but I'm not ready to pay for that yet. Thanks.
