2 tickets in a month, wow. Just because you get a
radar detector doesn't mean you won't get another one
though. You realize that cops don't need radar to
spot someone speeding. In fact I rarely ever see cops
using radar around here. Most times they can pace you
or compare your rate to the cars around you to single
you out. They really do know what too fast just looks
like even when you're the only car. I use a radar
detector (K. Ka, X and laser detection) and the uniden
bear tracker which gives you a warning on highway
patrol units. But even with these devices I watch
like a hawk in my mirrors at all times. I look far
ahead and far behind. You really should learn the
areas you like to speed in so you know where the cops
generally are. You should also be able to recognize
the cop cars at a great distance. I generally never
speed at night but when I do I can recognize the
headlights and marker light configuration on cop cars.
There's lots of tricks to speeding to learn...like
having a blocker car who will get hit with radar from
in front before you will etc. etc. When you get a
radar detector you need to learn what the false alarms
you'll get, like everytime you go by the grocery store
or the fast food joint and your X band goes off like
crazy.

You don't need some $300 or $400 detector. Get one
for like $120 with all the bands and learn how to use
it.

Good luck. Hope this helps.
