According to the a very extensive article on the 4.7L engine that appeared
in late 99 in Mopar Action magazine, the 4.7 weighs 150 pounds less than
5.9 assembly.

In comparing an R/T with a 5.9 auto and a 4.7 manual, I would guess the
weight savings is very close to 200 pounds from the engine and tranny
alone.

The 4.7 is much more comparable in weight to a 3.9 than a 5.9.

Another interesting thing is the announced output of the 3.7L new
generation V6. If they continue with the same weightsaving features
introduced in the 4.7L, the output of 210hp will make that a formidable
package indeed.
