Go for it Casey...there's plenty of power being wasted by the auto.
(Uhoh...here come the flames!) ;)

You may have to swap out computers from the Auto to Manual...don't know for
sure though.

Subject: DML: Auto to 5 spd swap?

OK my fellow DML'ers, as most of you know by now I have a '97 RC Sc'ed
V6......with the 42RE slush box. Now this is another idea I was tossing
around, do you guys think that it would be very hard to swap in the 5 spd
from the same year and configuration for my truck (NV3500?). I'm trying to
think of all the things that would be involved and how hard it would be to
do. So far I would need the tranny, new mounts, prolly a longer drive shaft,
speed-o cable(if that's what they use), plus I want to put new gears in,
preferably 4.10's (Bernd, help me out this one) , and a limited slip
carrier. I believe the trucks with auto already have a hole in the floor to
accommodate the shifter and there is an open hole in the firewall which I
believe is where the clutch linkage would go. Questions, comments, ideas
are very welcome....I think this would free up some major power in the
drivetrain.....maybe gain 6-8 tenths with it...hehe...anywho...later all
