Get a throttle body gasket from your local parts house (1995 - 1999 V6 TB
gasket will work...they're all the same).
Here's how:
You'll need 1 can of TB Cleaner, a can of compressed air, and a new TB
Gasket (air is optional though).
(1) Remove the Airhat, sensor connectors, and linkage
(2) Remove the four bolts holding it down
(3) Remove all the sensors (IAC, TPS, and MAP) - Torx-25
(4) Grab a small pan and some TB Cleaner (I use STP Throttle Body Cleaner -
It's your choice though)
(5) Spray TB Cleaner in all the orifices and let sit for a few (Make sure
you spray some into the MAP port)
(6) Spray some TB Cleaner on the plunger of the IAC and wipe clean (Do NOT
turn it...just wipe it clean)
(7) Spray some more TB Cleaner on the Throttle Body (all holes again) and
wipe the IAC port clean with a small rag (lint free preferred...Q-Tip works
well though...just make sure you don't leave any fuzz in there)
(8) Spray all the port dry with the compressed air (Inspect for dirt...it
there is still some left...go back to #7 - Lather, Rinse, Repeat)
(9) If everything is clean...reinstall the sensors and put the TB back on
the truck
(10 Start the truck and let idle for about a minute.
Your TB is now clean.
Most people think that spraying the cleaner down the bores is "cleaning the
TB" but it's just washing the gook down the intake and onto the plugs. I
always remove the TB for cleaning at every tune-up (7500 miles).
