Well night my truck's fuel pump decided to quit, again. So I pushed it 3
blocks to my house, luckily I wasnt far from. This last pump, purchased from
Napa, lasted from 108,000 miles to 134,800 miles; of course is only came
with a year warranty. My records indicate that historically(sad I have a
historical record of my truck's fuel pumps!) The Napa unit is/was a Carter
fuel pump also. Whenever the gas gauge starts to act up, the fuel pump is
soon to go. From the time the sending unit went out to the time the pump
died last night, was 2 weeks.

So today I called around and it seems prices have gone up. The last pump I
bought was $135 through Napa 2 years ago, and Napa wants $172 for the same
pump. I really didnt want to go with another Carter fuel pump, since my
truck has gone through 4 of them already. I called around and found Borg
Warner fuel pumps, Kem fuel pumps, and Masters fuel pump. All came with a
lifetime warranty, but the Masters from Autozone was $40 cheaper; $152 for
the entire assembly. I dont understand why I never bought a lifetime pump in
the first place! I opened the box up, and holy cow.........once again it is
a Carter fuel pump assembly. Haha, well atleast now I have a lifetime
warranty when this unit goes out in another 26-30,000 miles! I went to the
dealer and bought a new tank cap($6) and two new gas line retainer
clips($1.75 each). So tomorrow morning I wil be installing my truck's 5th
fuel pump assembly. Must be these darn Ford Motorsport #19 injectors are
incompatible with Carter fuel pumps, eh? Hehe.
