Well after an interesting drive both to and from work today, I am parking
the Dak until I can figure out what is up with it, what I need to do to fix
it, or how much I can get for it on a trade in! :)
It made a god aweful noise(briefly) twice when accelerating from a stoplight
on my way to work this morning. When it made this noise, it lost alot of
power, and acted like it wanteed to stall out. Coming home from work, the
god aweful noise happened 4-5 times during acceleration, lasting until I let
up off the gas. This noise is very erratic and I cant even begin to describe
it. At various stoplights, my truck also died about 4 times, but thankfully
started right up. I would slow down to a red light, sit and wait till it
turned green. During this time, the idle was a tad rough(as if it were
missing) and all of a sudden the god aweful noise would happen very
briefly(2-3 seconds), the rpms on the tach would go from a nice 600rpms at
idle up to 1000-1200, give this high tone whine(sounds like a bearing
failing under load?), and die. The battery guage never moved, oil pressure
was fine, and no lights ever appeared on the dash. Every time it started
right up. I just cant trust it to take to work tomorrow nor to drive around,
so like I said, it will stay put until I can figure out what to do with it.
I am going to call a local shop which I trust, (the only place I have ever
really taken my Dak to) and see about getting in for a diagnoses on what it
could be. Once they figure out what it could be, I will then determine if I
can fix it myself, if I want them to fix it, or what other options I should
start looking at.
