Out of my 89 FSM:
The maintenance required system is based on a time measuring module which
uses ignition-on time (basically an hour meter) to calculate maintenance
intervals. When predetermined time intervals have elapsed, the "MAINT REQD"
lamp will iluminate.

The lamp will remain lit until the module is reset by inserting a small
screwdriver blade or rod into the hold in the moduleto depredd the reset
switch which will turn off the lamp.

Now where's the module their talking about?? The maintenance required
module is located on a bracket below the headlamp switch on the backside of
the instrument panel.

Guess this means getting upside down with a flashlight. Have fun!!
